SeaWolves Throttled by Rumble Ponies, 6-1
|
Charlie Henry never let the SeaWolves get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Rumble Ponies to a win, 6-1. Henry, now 4-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 7, walking 5, and allowing 1 run. Jimmy Cayot recorded the save for Binghamton, his 5th of the season.
The Rumble Ponies got a big at-bat from catcher Grover Schleicher. For the game, Schleicher was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Binghamton a 2-1 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Schleicher told the Binghamton News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Binghamton is now 25-16, while Erie is 21-20.
