Fisher Cats Snatch Late-Game, 5-4 Win
|
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-4, in Eastern League action at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of New Hampshire pitcher Jayson Wood. The win belonged to Norse Jones in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Andy Thompson took the loss for Portland. New Hampshire is now 25-13, while Portland is 18-20.
The Fisher Cats were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 23-year old center fielder Ethan Will landed a big blow. He turned a 1-0 curveball from Andy Thompson into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the Fisher Cats home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
"That was high adrenalin and it was fun," Will said.
