Frigates Come Back Late to Clip Rumble Ponies
|
In a low-scoring game between the Halifax Frigates and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, pitcher Jim Hallett was the difference-maker. The Halifax right-hander was tough as nails in the 1-0 Frigates win. In 7.2 innings, Hallett surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. The Frigates upped their record to 18-19.
Halifax used the timely hitting of Geraldo Lugo to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Frigates on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We did just enough to win," Hallett said.
