The Somerset Patriots and Wichita Pilots provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Somerset Patriots could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Rod Powell into a win. Instead, the Wichita Pilots prevailed, 6-5. Powell threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The defeat makes Somerset 24-9.

Wichita used a timely hit from Filomeno Figueroa to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pilots ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Ah," said Figueroa in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
