Bowie Baysox starter Allberto Pineco found his groove in his team's 6-3 win over the Wichita Pilots. In 5 innings, Pineco surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Gianni Ivey notched his 6th save of the season.
The Pilots had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Baysox going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old left fielder Aiden Young came to the plate. Young hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 changeup from Wichita hurler Elton Valentin. It was Young's 2nd double of the year.
In postgame comments to the Bowie Times, Young said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Baysox are now 13-18, while the Pilots fall to 15-16.
