Las Vegas Ruins Terrific Game by Blalock
The Chicago Cubs had to overcome a big game from Las Vegas shortstop Colt Blalock to leave Wrigley Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-5. Blalock was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Rogers Williams, now 5-7, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3 innings. Chicago is first in the National League Sparrow Division with a record of 83-52.

Caleb O'Conner had a big 3-run home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Todd Rubio and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 6-1.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," O'Conner told the Chicago Citizen.
