The New York Mets got a superb performance from pitcher Bylent Claus, but the Montreal Expos still won the game, 6-4. Claus threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Jason Noble picked up his 15th save of the season. The first-place Expos go to 76-58.

Montreal pinch hitter Jake Hatton helped the Expos go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Hatton hit a run-scoring single off New York pitcher Mal Ballard.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Hatton told the Montreal News.
