The New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers, 6-4. New York pitcher and Green, Oregon, native Mike Peck led the way. New York reliever Ethelred Siewert was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Jeremy Romana took the loss. Picking up the save was Farouk Morales, his 22nd.
Lyle Stephenson came through with a big-time hit for New York. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said Yankees manager Tony Medina.
New York leads the National League Rivera Division by 7 games.
