Boston beat Cleveland at Fenway Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Carl Errington. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. The Red Sox now have a record of 60-73 with the win over Cleveland.

Boston took a 3-2 lead on Stewart Michalski's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Michalski hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cleveland pitcher Ted Carr visibly frustrated.

Errington called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
