Marlins Net 3-2 Win
|
The Miami Marlins picked up a win at Citi Field, courtesy of Billy Ott. The right-hander helped his team stop the New York Mets, 3-2. Ott, now 14-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Greyson Tadic was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Sebastian Gates had a big solo home run for the Marlins in the top of the fourth inning. With Miami leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Wesley Connell and punished it. The result was his 21st home run of the season, which put the Marlins on top, 3-0.
"Billy threw the ball very, very well," said Miami manager Nick McCollough.
The Marlins now have a record of 79-52.
