The Texas Rangers overcame a good performance by San Francisco first baseman Luther Broadnax to knock off San Francisco, 9-7, at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Broadnax went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Texas reliever Levi Lambright picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Chance Ladesma absorbed the loss. At 47-84, Texas is in last place in the National League Rivera Division.

The Giants had been locked in a 7-7 tie with the Rangers going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old center fielder Monico Sántos came to the plate. Sántos hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch fastball from San Francisco hurler Zach Coulter. It was Sántos's 34th double of the year.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Sántos told the Texas Citizen.
