The Memphis Blues got a superb performance from pitcher Biff Wood, but the Vancouver Cascades still won the game, 3-2. Wood threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Vancouver reliever Dustin Gauthier snagged the win, upping his record to 10-3. Vince Graham shouldered the loss. The Cascades have a one-game lead in the American League Pons Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jace Eichhorn? The former first round draft pick Eichhorn stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Vancouver up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We'll try to build on that win," Eichhorn told the Vancouver Gazette.
