Yankees Pull Out Late Win, 6-5
|
The New York Yankees took Zachariah Thackray's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Target Field. The final score had New York getting past the Twins, 6-5, in 12 innings. Thackray over 5 innings allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 4. After today's action, New York sits at 84-45, while Minnesota falls to 42-87.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Hadley Smart? The four-time All-Star Smart stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put New York up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Smart.
