Thomas Brown, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in complete games with 1, was locked in. The right-hander led the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-4 win against the Memphis Blues at Busch Stadium. Francisco Vergara was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 29 of 34 save opportunities. The 4th-place Cardinals are 62-66.

St. Louis left fielder Skyler Ellis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0.

Ellis attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
