Memphis left-hander Cory Neal pitched his team to victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Neal got the win, improving to 5-5. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. James Rosen got the save, his 5th in 7 chances.

Memphis used a well-timed hit by Mariano Guerrero to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Blues ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Memphis manager Willie Felix.
