Apolo Contreras impressed in the 10-3 Miami win over Kansas City. Contreras, who finished 3rd in the NL in batting average with .341 in 2058, was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Miami pitcher Fay Rowland got the win. He's now 10-3. Zach Kerwick was tagged with the loss. The Marlins now have a record of 86-38 with the win over Kansas City.

Charlie Shulman had a big 2-run home run for the Marlins in the top of the third inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from Zach Kerwick, who finished 2nd in the AL in wins with 19 in 2058, and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Marlins on top, 3-0.
