Philadelphia Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Busch Stadium. Fortunately for the St. Louis Cardinals, though, Davis Adams was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, to lead his team past the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-0. Elwood Reitano, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. St. Louis currently is in 4th place in the American League Sandoval Division at 56-68.
With St. Louis leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Adams hit a sinker from John Sullivan for a run-scoring double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0.
"We think we're a good team overall, so we're not too surprised to win today," said Adams.
