Indians Knock Off White Sox, 5-3
|
Cleveland starter Evan Frid pitched well against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Earning his 1st save for Cleveland was Elijah Jereb. Cleveland, at 71-53, sits in second place in the American League Pons Division.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Justin Maas, the 24-year old third baseman . Maas contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Cleveland up, 1-0.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Indians manager Johnny Cal.
