Indians Held in Check by Red Sox, Lose, 3-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians. Boston won it, 3-1. Boston starter Conrad Strong was in command. Sidney Castro snagged the win in relief. In 2.2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits. He's now 2-0 on the season. Louis Favreau, credited with the save, is now 27 for 32 in save opportunities.
Had Tomas Urbina not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Urbina hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Red Sox.
Strong called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The win puts Boston at 45-77.
