Chicago Beats Philadelphia, 6-1
|
Julian Svehla, who is on pace for 246 strikeouts this season, imposed his will on the Phillies from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 6-1 Chicago triumph. Nakamaro Tahara picked up his 5th save of the season. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 68-53.
Chicago designated hitter Warren Morgan contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 147th hit of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 2-0.
"I'd like to pile on a few more wins before the end of the year," said Svehla.
