Astros Score Late, Stun Falcons, 5-3
|
The Astros grabbed a win, 5-3, at Minute Maid Park, overcoming a fine effort from Fresno pitcher J.B. Whitson. Whitson went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Roger Miller earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. His record is now 7-4. At 60-61, the Astros find themselves in third place in the National League Torres Division.
Houston took a 4-3 lead on Emmett Holder's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Holder hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Fresno pitcher Bob Aller visibly frustrated.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Houston manager Anders Robinson.
