Fine Effort by Renfrow Not Enough in 8-7 Brewers Loss
Milwaukee first baseman Nick Renfrow had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-7, to Chicago at Wrigley Field. Renfrow went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Chicago reliever Omar Diaz was the winner. His record is now 5-2. Roberto Bush took the loss. Getting the save was Jack Smitherman, his 5th.

An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the third. That's when Cubs right fielder Constantino Gallardo hit a knuckle curve from Roberto Bush for a 2-run single. Just like that, Chicago was up, 5-4.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Gallardo told the Chicago Daily.

With the win, the Cubs improved to 68-52.
