The Cincinnati Reds did just enough to sneak past the Virginia Black Bears, 5-4, at The Sparrow's Nest. Cincinnati pitcher Roger Jenkins, in particular, had a standout performance. Cincinnati reliever Roger Jenkins got the win, raising his record to 7-1. Todd Nguyen was tagged with the loss. Andrés Velasco earned the save, his 27th, for the Reds.

Cincinnati relied on the hitting of Ollie Millner to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Reds on top, 3-0. For the game, Millner had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Virginia manager Zack Allen.

The Reds bumped their record to 62-57 with this win.
