Tigers Take Down Black Bears, 7-6
Detroit picked up a win at The Sparrow's Nest, toppling the Virginia Black Bears, 7-6. Pitcher Jason Martinelli was one of the reasons the Tigers triumphed. Detroit reliever Joshua Rusch picked up the win to move to 2-1. Dale Bowyer suffered the loss. Jaden Bishop closed the game out for Detroit, earning his 3rd save.

Detroit used a clutch hit from Juan Izquierdo to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our team showed some spunk," said Izquierdo.

Virginia has now lost 5 consecutive games.
