Mets Beat Visiting Mariners, 5-4
|
The New York Mets beat the Seattle Mariners, 5-4, at Citi Field. Enrique Reyna, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Herb Tucker, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-1. The Mets bumped their record to 61-46 with this latest triumph.
New York designated hitter Emmanuel González contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 116th hit of the season and put the Mets ahead, 5-3.
"We found a way to get it done," González said.
