Soggy conditions did not keep Philadelphia and New York from playing their scheduled game.

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Yankees by a score of 6-4. Philadelphia shortstop Fred Edwards deserved the lion's share of the credit. Edwards went 2-3 with a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Phillies. Loyd Middleton claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 4-2.

Edwards had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 sinker from Lucas Reppond, he banged a 2-run triple to left-center, giving the Phillies a 5-4 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Edwards.

"Not the sexiest win," said Phillies manager Corey Barrentine, "but I'll take it."

Today's win puts Philadelphia at 40-64, while New York falls to 48-56.
