The Houston Astros topped the Atlanta Braves, 4-1, in Western Region action at Minute Maid Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston right fielder Bill Thyfault. The win puts the Astros at 51-49, while the Braves drop to 52-48.

Thyfault had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-2 fastball from Jefry Alcantara, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Astros a 3-1 lead. It was the 18th home run of the year for Thyfault.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Houston manager Norman Goguen.
