Cascades Come Up Short at Boston, 5-4
|
The Boston Red Sox and Vancouver Cascades obliged fans looking for a good time.
Vancouver got a terrific game from first baseman Echo Warren. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boston, 5-4. Warren was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jayden Spencer was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.
Ruben Otero, who finished 5th in the EAST in doubles with 42 last year, aided the Boston cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Vancouver manager Pablo Vega said following the tough loss.
The Red Sox now have a record of 36-64 with the win over Vancouver.
