Baltimore Gets 2-1 Win
|
Baltimore got a first-rate effort from pitcher Yelix Ribera, who frustrated St. Louis hitters en route to a 2-1 Orioles triumph at Busch Stadium. Ribera, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. The loss makes St. Louis 61-38.
Gonçalo Melo, the 25-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Melo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Baltimore up, 2-0.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Melo told the Baltimore Daily.
