Royals Lose to Black Bears, 7-5
|
The Virginia Black Bears trumped the Kansas City Royals, 7-5, at The Sparrow's Nest. Virginia left fielder Mike Fisher was terrific. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The Black Bears raised their record to 38-60.
Fisher had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch changeup from Lincoln Anderson, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Black Bears a 7-5 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Fisher.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Fisher, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
