The exploits of catcher Jon Bryant, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2054 draft, helped the Virginia Black Bears defeat the New York Yankees, 4-2. Bryant was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. J.J. Richardson snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 4.2 innings. He's now 6-9 on the season. Virginia now owns a record of 43-55.

Iván Arca helped out the Virginia cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Bryant told the Virginia Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."
