Blue Jays Send Philadelphia Home with 4-0 Loss
|
The Toronto Blue Jays rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Billy Phan to a win, beating the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-0, at Citizens Bank Park. Jack Tritt closed the game out for Toronto, earning his 26th save. Toronto occupies second place in the National League Rivera Division at 60-36.
Toronto used the hitting of Jimmy Ray to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 3-0. For the game, Ray had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Good win for us," said Ray. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
