The California Angels got a sterling performance from pitcher Aydan Ambrosino, but the Atlanta Braves still prevailed, 3-2. Ambrosino threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The win belonged to Jasen Phillips in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Shawn Outhier took the loss for California. The Braves, at 40-54, sit in last place in the National League Torres Division.
Atlanta got a knockout punch from Caleb Mancillas. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Mancillas.
