Astros Rally For Late Win Over Marlins
|
In a low-scoring game between the Houston Astros and the Miami Marlins, pitcher Derron McKenzie was masterful on the mound. The Houston right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Houston reliever Grant Corso picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Max Uren shouldered the loss. Jason Miranda converted his 22nd save in 23 tries.
Houston used the timely hitting of Bill Thyfault to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Astros on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Every loss stings," said Miami manager Nick McCollough. "This one is no exception."
The Western Region Central Division-leading Astros are 59-33.
