Win Lifts Reds to 49-40
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs, pitcher Roger Jenkins was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cincinnati right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Reds win. Andrés Velasco earned the save for Cincinnati, his 21st of the year. With the win, the Reds hiked their record to 49-40.
Ollie Millner had a productive at-bat in the bottom of the third inning. With a runner on 3rd, the Cincinnati designated hitter hit a run-scoring triple. It made the score 2-1, and led to the win.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Cincinnati manager Landon Claramitaro said.
