Citi Field was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

The New York Mets beat the Fresno Falcons, 2-1, at Citi Field. Starting pitcher Yoandry Santiago was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. New York pitcher Ethan Ponzio got the win. He's now 2-3. Karson Lenz was tagged with the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Javin Hall came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fresno pitcher Mikel Rodriguez, he hit a 0-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 2-1.

"We scored one run," said Fresno manager Ricky Gonzalez. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."

The Mets saw their win-loss record go to 45-43. At the same time, the Falcons fell to 54-34.
