Expos Deny Giants, 4-2
|
The Montreal Expos tallied a win at Olympic Stadium, throttling the San Francisco Giants, 4-2. Starting pitcher Gabriel Taylor was a big reason for his team's success. Taylor picked up the win for Montreal, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 5-6. Joshua Marks nailed down his 13th save.
Weston Lay had a big 2-run double for the Expos in the bottom of the third inning. With Montreal leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Stéfano Arras and swatted a double to left. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Expos ahead, 4-1.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Taylor.
With the win, Montreal upped its record to 51-36.
