Orioles Go Down to Defeat, 7-4
|
Good production from first baseman Jackson Maul helped the San Francisco Giants topple the Baltimore Orioles, 7-4. Maul went 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Giants. San Francisco reliever Crispin Denham picked up the win, upping his record to 6-0. Xavier Basha took the loss. Getting the save was Smokey Deveraux, his 9th.
The Giants got a lift from catcher Nolan Peterson, who in the top of the eighth stroked a first pitch fastball into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 81st hit of the season and put the Giants ahead, 6-4.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Maul said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Giants go to 47-39, putting them third in the Western Region Northwest Division.
