Astros Even Record with 7-4 Victory
|
New York left fielder Sterling Harris had a good game, even if his team did not. The Mets dropped a 7-4 decision to Houston at Citi Field. Harris went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 3 walks. John Simmons, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-3. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Ken Malloy nailed down his 4th save.
The Astros got a big at-bat from catcher Jake Monsibais. For the game, Monsibais went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave Houston a 2-1 lead.
Houston manager Anders Robinson was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
The third-place Astros lifted their record to 43-43.
