Oakland Gets 6-5 Road Win
|
Atlanta designated hitter Adrian Cooke had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Cooke went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Oakland beat the Braves, 6-5. Cale Wiltsie picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Nate Southard was tagged with the loss. The Athletics improve their record to 39-46 with the win over Atlanta.
Jacob Hitchens, who is tied for 8th in the WEST in total bases with 172, aided the Oakland cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Enjoyed this one," Hitchens told the Oakland Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
