Athletics Win at St. Louis, 6-1
|
Oakland used a superb performance from starting pitcher J.R. Voegtlin to down the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-1. The 4th-place Athletics lifted their record to 39-46.
The Athletics got a big at-bat from first baseman Jason Wilkinson. For the game, Wilkinson went 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Oakland a 2-0 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's about putting up zeros," said Voegtlin.
