San Francisco parlayed a decent outing from starter Mark Weiss into a solid win over the New York Mets. The final score was 6-3. Their 46-35 record puts the Giants second in the National League Torres Division.

Teddie Lucas had a big 2-run home run for the Giants in the bottom of the third inning. With San Francisco leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Billy Ott, who is a two-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Giants on top, 4-1.

"Mark really held it together well," said San Francisco manager Miles Waterbury.
