The New York Yankees defeated the Portland Hops, 11-7, at Yankee Stadium. New York right fielder Benjamin Berret had a superb performance. He went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The Yankees sit in first place in the National League Rivera Division with a record of 50-27.

With New York leading 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Berret batted against Portland pitcher Fred Nickell. Berret hit a sinker to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 27th home run of the season put the Yankees on top, 10-2.

"I put some good swings on the ball," said Berret.
