Philadelphia Tops Minnesota, 3-2
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Target Field. Fortunately for the Philadelphia Phillies, though, Corey Wells was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, to lead his team past the Minnesota Twins, 3-2. The win was credited to Ricky Conklin in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Roland Otano took the loss. Sawyer Cathcart nailed down his 12th save.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Wells hit a run-scoring double off Roland Otano. It propelled the Phillies into the lead, 2-1.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Connor Sandstrom.
The Phillies now have a record of 31-44.
