Indians Need Extra Innings to Top Yankees, 5-3
|
The Cleveland Indians faced a tenacious opponent in New York pitcher Thorstein Echaniz, but still scratched out a win at Yankee Stadium by a final score of 5-3 in 10 innings. Echaniz went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win went to Chris Campbell in relief, making him now 1-0. Santiago González took the loss for New York. Cleveland, at 41-32, sits in second place in the American League Pons Division.
Cleveland needed the clutch hitting of Kaden Bright to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Indians on top, 5-3. For the game, Bright had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Bright.
