White Sox Topple Rangers, 6-3, as Castillo Shines
|
In the 6-3 Chicago win over Texas, the impact of Christian Castillo was substantial. Castillo, who finished 3rd in the AL in RBI with 114 last year, was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Miguel Hermillo. He tossed 93 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The White Sox now have a record of 43-28 with the win over Texas.
There was more than one reason the White Sox beat the Rangers, but Castillo's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
Castillo told a Chicago Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
