Blue Jays Advance to Division Championship Series
|
The Toronto Blue Jays didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card Series tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 9-3 win moving the club on to the Division Championship Series, clinching a 4-1 series win in front of the Rogers Centre crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a Skyline Championship Series, so it's an important step," said Caleb Turney as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Turney was named series MVP, as he hit .350 with a .364 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 4 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Brewers sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Toronto celebrate.
The Division Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
