Martin, Reds Take Dramatic Game 1 for 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Cincinnati Reds took the first game of the Wild Card Series in dramatic fashion, topping the Detroit Tigers, 4-3, in an extra-inning walk-off win. Reds right-hander Ethan Martin threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball.
The decisive blow was delivered by Sebastian Metz in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Levy to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.
"Both teams played hard," said Cincinnati manager Bill Ortiz.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Saturday, October 17th , 2065.
