Blaze Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 3-0
|
The Bakersfield Blaze moved to within one game of the A+ Championship Series, downing the Martinez Clippers on the road at Recreation Park by a score of 6-2. Blaze right-hander Connor Portmann had a strong outing. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Blaze a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.
In the top of the eighth, Bakersfield second baseman Leonardo Peralta had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Peralta stroked a 3-run home run to right. It made the score 6-0, Bakersfield. For the game, he was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
Clippers manager Josiah Gordon did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the A+ Championship Series."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Recreation Park in Martinez.
