Calinescu Helps Corpus Christi Take AA Championship Series Game 1
The AA Championship Series got off to a quiet start, with the host Corpus Christi Hooks taking a low-scoring, 1-0 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Corpus Christi right-hander Nick Calinescu was marvelous at Whataburger Field. The Hooks now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Calinescu, the Corpus Christi right-hander, went 8 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits. He collected 5 strikeouts.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Mario Javier.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi.
